Traveling

The first day of our trip started out with a lot of driving
(not my favorite part).
But we did make a few quick stops to stretch the legs,
and check out the surroundings.
We paused for some food during a flash flood in St. George.
Checked out a stream (originally thought to be a natural spring) that comes out through rocks from a far away lake.
And finally made it to Bear Lake,
with a beautiful sunset,
and had our first night in the tent,
(and of course some baseball).
The next morning we headed into Idaho, then Wyoming and up the Star Valley.
We took our first small hike down to a river,
so AK could throw some rocks.
Checked out the museum by the Elk wildlife preserve.
Then headed for The Tetons!

JB at the ZOO

JB and Mama are finally getting out of the house a bit for adventures.
We did a quick little adventure to the Los Angeles Zoo,
(got to love season passes).
We did a nice quick tour around the main exhibits.
I took them through The Lair
(the zoo's new exhibit for reptiles),
lots of fun creepy, crawly things.
The jaguar was quite active today.
You just have to pick the gorilla's nose.
A quick but fun trip.

Catalina Island

To celebrate Papa's Birthday a bit more, we took advantage of a birthday freebie and took the Catalina Express Ferry to Catalina Island.
If was a long fun filled day.
We woke up really early and missed all the normal L.A. traffic to Long Beach.
The Ferry is a really big boat, and was a lot of fun.
We sat outside on the bottom level. It was really windy, but a perfect time for cat naps.
After a nice breakfast
(where we met a few people who were also celebrating birthdays),

we rented a golf cart and drove it all around the little town of Avalon.
(That was the perfect place for another nap for us boys.)
There were some beautiful views.
We played on the beach,
and threw a lot of rocks in the water.
I did some modeling, hehe.
Ate some ice cream, chocolate if you can't tell.
It was a nice relaxing family day.
We stayed all day long, so when we got back on the boat it was just in time for sunset.
We found a nice seat outside on the top of the boat
(which surprisingly had less wind, but was a bit chilly).
We even saw dolphins on the way home.
What a great day.
Happy Birthday Papa, we sure love you!!

Happy Birthday Papa!!

We had a nice little celebration for Papa's birthday
(the real celebration is later this year when we take a trip to Yellowstone).
Mom made a really yummy baseball cake.
I decided the traditional birthday song wasn't good enough for Papa,
so instead I insisted on a 7th Inning Stretch.
First God Bless America,
and Take Me Out to the Ball Game.
Papa even got his wish and got to take a bite out of the cake before we sang.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPA!

JB's First- Baseball Game

With baseball games a continuous source of fun for our family (especially Papa and I), it was time to share the fun with JB.
We got their early for batting practice,
taught JB how to watch a game,
even while he's spitting-up,
and even got to keep a foul ball (thank you Javier the Ball Boy).
It was great, even if JB slept through the last half of the game!

Memorial Day 2012

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend.
We got to see some family,
Papa and I went to a baseball game,
We all watched some local fireworks
(AK teaching JB how to watch fireworks)
with Mom covering his ears, JB didn't cry once, but seemed very curious,
and on Monday we watched the local parade
(not the best pic- but there were lots of preschools and marching bands- good fun).

Most of all we're thankful to all those who risk their lives to protect our freedom, especially to those who have died doing so, and their families who have also sacrificed so much.
