Going to the Sun in Glacier National Park

This summer we found one of the most beautiful places on the planet, (we still have a lot to see, but this will always rank up there) in Glacier National Park in Montana.
Going to the Sun Run is a windy curving, 50 mile trek that runs straight through the center of the park.
There is so much to see that you want to stop after every turn and drink it all in.
Waterfalls tumble down the mountain sides.
 breaking up snow banks,
and weeping down the rock walls.
 Vistas of mountain plateaus,
 And the remaining Glaciers.
Rivers run along the curves in the road,
and head into the forest.
Barring Falls, runs under the roadway bridge,

Sunrift George is a great place to stop for a break in the drive.
There are so many picturesque places to stop.
Great little hikes, to get out into the trees,
(or plenty of longer hikes if you're up for it).
Plenty of places to stop for a picnic.
Snowbanks that make caves, to check out.
River to cool off in,
and explore,
and get a little adventerous.
Animals Abound:
Mountain Goats,
precariously preched on the mountain tops,
Deer,
even Bears
(Mama was a bit of a scared- "no running Mama.")
(The bear and the deer were actually on the trail to St. Mary's Falls).
St. Mary's Falls was a great hike to check out.
Fantastic sunlight.
The falls were amazing.
Papa having fun.
We loved every minute of it!
This place is a must see, and you better do it quick. There use to be over 100 glaciers in the park, now there are 26. It's believed that within 20 years they will all have melted. Don't miss you chance to see it's majesty.

Lewis & Clark National Forest, Montana

Getting from one National Park to the other required a bit of driving, but Papa always makes the most of that.
We find fun back roads, to test out the strength of the car. (Go Expo Go!),
and other cool places to explore.
Between Yellowstone and Glacier Nation Parks, we found the Montana State Park in the Lewis & Clark National Forest.
It was a beautiful green, forested rolling hills,
with cool rock formaions,
an adventerous hike,
to a cool waterfall.
Papa found a precarious perch, and stayed nice and relaxed.
AK threw some rocks into the water.
While I got a nap!
It's always fun to find new waterfalls.
AK, what are you plotting?

Animals of Yellowstone

One of the can't miss (literally- you can't miss them, they're on the sideof the road) attractions of Yellowstone are the animals.
We saw Elk,
And of course Bison (Buffalo).
It really is amazing to see these animals so up close (not to close crazy people), but also out in the wild.
There were a lot more little creatures, but we just didn't have the camera ready!

Halloween 2012

We still have more summer adventures to post about, but before Mom gets too behind, let's break in with and up to date post about Halloween!
Just a few quick picks:
With curious George and Elmo you can't go wrong (even with a dirty old man laker fan).
JB may have got the ahhhh award around the block, but Papa definitely got the scary award.
We even got to visit with some cute friends.
Carve a pumpkin,
Roast some pumpkin seeds,
JB really thought there had to be something good in their to put in his mouth.
I wanted a dragon pumpkin this year, (Mama got a bit carried away, but it still turned out scary!)
Even had yummy stuffed pumpkins for dinner.
Hope you had a good Halloween too!

P.S. AK's favorite quote of the week:
"I got a chocolate bar," Pigpen reported.
"I got a quarter," Schreoder added.
"I got a rock," Charlie Brown said.
(All followed by copious amounts of AK laughter)!
